Social security

Switzerland has a network of social insurance institutions offering protection against risks for those who live and work here, for example protection against poverty and support in case of illness.

IV is the most important pillar of disability provision in Switzerland (1st pillar). Like the AHV, it is a compulsory insurance.

The aim of the IV is to preserve jobs and to reintegrate affected persons into the labour market as quickly as possible.
