Social security

Switzerland has a network of social insurance institutions offering protection against risks for those who live and work here, for example protection against poverty and support in case of illness.

The old-age and survivors' insurance (OASI / AHV) is the compulsory pension insurance in Switzerland. From 2028, the same retirement age of 65 will apply to both women and men. Until then, entitlement is staggered according to year of birth: Women born in 1962 will have to work six months longer until ordinary retirement and women born in 1963 will have to work nine months longer.
